I stumbled upon some interesting findings at my home group last night. My friend Natalie was in the process of baking what's called a "Groom's Cake." She explained the tradition behind it all including the silly wives tale. Intended consumers of said cake are any single ladies in attendance of the wedding. Supposedly it's for good luck in finding a man. To take matters further, some women even place a piece of the cake underneath their pillows so that they might dream about future husbands. I also discovered this tradition holds its origins within the deep south.
Did I mention that my fairy godmother lives down the road? Oh the humor.
