Epiphany

For the select few times that I make the conscious effort to watch TV, I'll stumble upon gems such as Seinfeld. Oh man, I've forgotten the sheer hilarity of this sitcom. So good.

On that note, I've also forgotten the amazing array of past Disney movies. Participating in the game of Disney-style Scene It has certainly uprooted my passion for films like The Sword in the Stone, and Robin Hood. But I think there is one movie worth mentioning that I feel is often overlooked...is it just me, or is The Great Mouse Detective really, really, good? Or even such films like The Aristocats and The Rescuers to name a few. And to think, I'm just getting started.

Man I love reminiscing. It's time I start some sort of Disney appreciation club or something to relive the glory days of childhood movie time.

You know there's no denying the quality movie time when you were a kid. Think about it. You're cozied up with pajamas coupled with your favorite blanket and perhaps a pillow or two. Sprawled across the floor with an assortment of snacks like popcorn or Gushers, you feel quite satisfied atop the carpet while your parents lounge on the couch like all older folk do. The time is most likely a quarter to 7, maybe later for this special night happens to be Saturday and that means mom and dad approve of your postponed bedtime by about an hour or so. This is certainly a blissful moment indeed, because when you were just a kid, the running time for a Disney movie seemed to last for hours. You place yourself right in front of the TV, not off to the side, but smack dab in the middle. Once the previews begin to commence, a wave of excitement overwhelms you with the onset of giggles and other joyous outbursts. After a few minutes of colorful stimulation, the film begins. For me, I personally smiled my biggest smile from ear to ear just as soon as I read the Disney title. Sure it's been watched over and over again, but you could care less. There's no overkill to be had, no exhaustion from previous viewings, all that matters is your movie is about to start and said film exempts you from regular bedtime. Throughout the movie you're fascinated by the characters and the plot as it unfolds scene after scene. Maybe you know the lines by heart, or maybe this particular film is a never-before-seen delight. In either case, you're ecstatic. Every instance of climactic Disney fervor delivers the ultimate viewing pleasure for your sweetly exaggerated imagination. And then, the time has come for the film to end and preparations for bedtime are made. With a mesmerized mind you review what was just witnessed. Utter contentment sinks into your heart as you lay your precious head to sleep. Thoughts of future weekend nights and the next movie selection float about as your eyes start to feel heavy. Finally you've fallen fast asleep. Disney has done it again, another child gratified.

Oh the memories.
